Leola Homenick

Leola was born in Emo, Ontario. She graduated from a 4 Year Business & Commerce Course and then, like every small town, country girl’s dream, moved to the big city – “Calgary”. Leola worked for the Alberta Government as a Judicial Clerk in the Sheriff’s Office, and later for the City of Calgary, Personnel Department. She moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. Leola worked for the Winnipeg School Division and retired after 25 years!

Leola came out of a short “retirement” two and a half years ago, to be our secretary. She was getting bored, and wanted a new challenge.

Leola and her husband Barry have a daughter Dana who lives at home and is in her last year of University. Her stepdaughter Christa recently graduated from University, lives in Ottawa, and works for the National Research Council.  She keeps herself busy with memberships in Daughters of the Nile, and Eastern Star. She is an adult volunteer with Job’s Daughters. Leola loves “dressing up” and getting together with her Red Hat Ladies. She enjoys going out for dinner, for coffee, or for a couple of glasses of wine with the girls. She likes hockey, dancing, music, mostly country, but sometimes finds herself humming to the music coming from Rev. Mark’s office.

Her favorite quote: “Friends are like quiet angels, who lift us to our feet, when our wings have trouble remembering to fly”.
